A dead body was discovered along the edge of the Barrington River on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 18.
Barrington Police Chief Michael Correia said a deceased male under the age of 30 was found near the edge of the Barrington River, a short distance from the Barrington Congregational church parking lot.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, it does not appear to be foul play,” Chief Correia said.
The exact cause of death has not been identified yet. The discovery was made just past noon, officials said.
According to Chief Correia, a contractor pulled into the parking lot and noticed the dead body. The contractor called police right away.
By 1:15 p.m., police had roped off the southern end of the parking lot. About a half-dozen police vehicles, a fire engine, an ambulance and the medical examiner’s truck were at the scene.
An unoccupied sedan was also parked at the edge of the parking lot. Police said the vehicle might be connected with the deceased male.
