The Barrington U12 All-Star team gave the team from South Riding, Va. all it could handle in a Little League World Series game on Friday morning, Aug. 16.
The team from Barrington held the South East Regional champs scoreless through the first four innings, but in the bottom of the fifth, Virginia's Brady Yates hit a two-run homer which propelled his team to a 3-0 win over the New England Regional champs.
Alex Anderson pitched well for Barrington, striking out three batters. Owen Pfeffer, in relief, struck one the lone batter he faced. Barrington's defense was stellar throughout the game, highlighted by an inning-ending double play that ignited the New England fans.
Barrington dropped into the elimination bracket and will play against Great Lakes Regional champs Bowling Green, Ky. on Saturday at 3 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
