Needed: School Building Committee members in Barrington

Committee will assist in developing master facilities plan

Posted

The Barrington School Committee and School Administration are seeking members of the public to participate on the Barrington School Building Committee and assist in the development of a Master Facilities Plan for Barrington Public Schools.

The main focus of the Barrington School Building Committee this spring and summer will be preparing a Stage II submission for the Rhode Island Department of Education, which is expected to be submitted on Sept. 15.

“This is an exciting and inspiring time for Barrington Public Schools,” stated a press release from the district.

“Serving on the Barrington School Building Committee is an opportunity for community members to help envision the future of Barrington Public Schools.

“Participation on this committee also provides the public with a voice on the direction of facility improvements and related district projects that correct inadequate conditions and space deficiencies of school buildings and increase educational equity and student engagement.”

To be included in the member selection process, community members must submit an application for Barrington School Building Committee membership by March 31. A link to the application can be found on the district’s website, https://www.barringtonschools.org.

Applicants will be notified of selection on April 6. If selected, School Building Committee members will need to be available to attend monthly meetings in the evening.
