To the editor:
So, this is where we are: building a new school for maybe or not, 68.4 million dollars on what amounts to wet lands (a former and present peat bog).
We, however, are told that it will be built on a concrete slab or something to that affect, (no basement) so that it will not suffer the same outcome as the old school. And all this without the permission from all the taxpayers, those are the people who are asked to pay for it. I just hope that students do not get their shoes wet while getting from the school to the sidewalk.
Now we are thinking of changing school start times because the students are suffering due to the lack of sleep.
However, this is an issue of parental responsibility. Adults must be responsible for getting enough sleep so that they can get to their job and do it well every day.
It is your job to make sure your student gets his or her proper amount sleep so that they will be able do their best with their work. Many generations have done so and have seen their students graduate to go on to productive lives for themselves and others.
And this was done without asking taxpayers to pay for the costs involved in changing school start times, never mind the inconvenience to working parents.
