To the editor:
As a forty-three-year resident of Barrington and a Nana of eight grandchildren, who also live in town, I would like to give a great big THANKS to our police department.
Two of my grandchildren have recently had their birthdays under these difficult times and were unable to celebrate in a normal fashion. However, they were able to have a very special day commemorated through a birthday parade of cars.
My daughters reached out to the police department to see if they would participate. This, understandably, could only be done if an emergency did not occur. On both occasions, they were able to attend and provide a safe environment for the entire neighborhood.
This birthday caravan meant the world to the birthday girls.
Although it only lasted a short time, the joy on their faces to reconnect at a social distance with their family and friends was heartwarming. This will be a birthday always remembered, not for the party, but for the community spirit.
Thanks again to the Barrington Police Department.
