In the most recent Barrington Times, the editor claims to know that the “silent majority” in town would support construction of an artificial turf field.

How on earth can he possibly know for certain?

When this issue was last proposed just a few years ago, it was soundly defeated at the FTM. Only when taxpayers are informed of the true costs — of constructing, maintaining, removing, disposing of, and replacing an artificial turf field after its average 8 year lifespan — and have then voted in November on a proposed referendum, will anyone know the silent majority’s opinion.

At this time, we only know the opinions of one Town Council member, a handful of consistently ardent supporters and the editor of the Barrington Times.
