It was great to see a nod to our Artist-in-Residence Series at the Bay Spring Community Center in the Dec. 31 issue of the Barrington Times. We are extremely fortunate to have Mark Cutler as one of our current Resident Artists. In addition to his popular Monday night Songwriting Workshops, Mark also produces a concert series, featuring bands and artists from all over Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, drawing from his extensive network of successful performers. The concerts normally run on the second Saturday of each month.  The Jan. 11 concert features the band Blue Jayd with special guests, Oak Hill.

The Center’s first Artist-in-Residence, Professor Gizmo, continues to home his workshop at the BSCC and offers multiple STEAM-based, creative construction events every month. His next workshop, called “Crazy Egg Cars Challenge” will run on Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It has proven itself to be a perennial favorite for kids, ages 6 and up.

The January docket at the Center also includes a Barrington High School Open Mic Night (Jan. 25) and the start of a new series, produced by our friends from the Barrington Farm School, called “Cabin Fever” (Jan. 26). The first event in the series will include a potluck dinner with a movie and panel discussion focused on Climate Change and Resilience in Barrington and the East Bay. And don’t forget our Django Jazz Jams on the first and third Wednesdays of every month. These jam sessions are free and open to all.

All of these programs (and more) are run by the Friends of the Bay Spring Community Center, a 100 percent volunteer-driven organization.
