Jean Young Haley, of Barrington, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017. She was born in Providence on Nov. 3, 1919, the daughter of L. Douglas and Louise Young. She was the wife of the late John W. Haley, Jr..
She is survived by three sons, William D. Haley, and his wife Suzanne of Amherst, N.H., John W. Haley III, and his wife Jessica of Providence, and Dwight R. Haley, and his wife Jocelyn of Warren; her grandchildren, Pasha Superbie and husband Pietro, Sarah Robinson and husband Derrick, Robert Haley, Jaclyn Haley Daigneault and husband Michael, and Nathan Haley; and her six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister, Mary, and extended family.
Jean was a graduate of Hope High School in Providence, and attended the Rhode Island School of Design. She was a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School.
Jean loved spending time with her family, reading, taking long drives in her Cadillac, visiting Dunkin Donuts and the Newport Creamery, and doing the daily crossword puzzles.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 18, in Central Congregational Church, Angell Street, Providence. The Wheeler Lot off of Hope Street will be available for parking. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Rhode Island ASPCA and/or the Rhode Island VFW. Please visit smithmason.com for online condolences.
