Kat Barker scored the first two goals of the game and added two more later on, guiding the East Bay Co-op girls ice hockey team to a 10-3 victory over Cranston on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
Barker, a senior, opened the scoring with a goal off an assist from Sarah Yee, and picked up her second a short time later. Samantha Yee and Peyton Whittet assisted on Barker's second goal.
Cranston cut the lead in half, but the Eagles responded with three straight goals to finish out the first period — one from Taylor DeFreitas, one from Whittet and one from Barker.
Cranston managed a goal at the start of the second period to make the score 5-2, but East Bay answered right back with four more goals. Mia Phelps and Barker each scored goals, and Marissa Levreault netted two more. Assists came from Brigid Carlin, Alex Phelps, Natalie Manor, Whittet and Barker.
The Eagles’ Levreault made it a hat-trick with a goal in the third period, off an assist from Hannah Leblanc.
East Bay improved to 3-2 with the victory.
