The Barrington High School baseball team knocked off East Greenwich in a rematch of last year’s Division II semifinal playoff series.

The Eagles’ Jack Lawson tossed a complete-game and Finlay Thomson drove in Nick Scandura for the game’s only run, as the Eagles defeated East Greenwich 1-0 in the home opener on Tuesday, April 2.

Lawson scattered three hits while striking out six Avengers and walking only two.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Scandura belted a double into the right-centerfield gap and scored when Thomson ripped a single off the Avengers’ starter.

The Eagles will travel to Middletown on Friday afternoon for a showdown with the Islanders. The game is scheduled to start at 4:45 p.m. at the Gaudet Middle School field.
