The Barrington High School boys basketball team used its relentless full-court pressure to build an early lead against Mt. Hope and cruised to a 64-29 victory.

Playing in front of a hometown crowd on Friday night, Dec. 9, the Eagles led 18-7 after the first quarter. By halftime, Barrington, which plays in Division I, was up 34-16 against the Division II Huskies.

Matt Raffa and Nick Scandura paced Barrington to the early lead — Raffa and Scandura, both juniors, scored eight points each in the first quarter. Raffa had 15 by halftime and Scandura had 14 by the break.

Parker Camelo scored five of Mt. Hope’s first seven points while Jim Rustici added four in the second quarter and Lucas Andreozzi dropped in a three-pointer before the break.

Barrington continued to roll in the second half, as Raffa dropped in another six points, Scandura added four more and Dan Coogan and Evan Anderson pitched in with buckets.

By the end of the game, Raffa led all scorers with 23 points, Scandura had 18, and freshman Caleb Satisfield scored seven.

For the Huskies, Rustici finished with 11 points, while Camelo had seven, Andreozzi had five, and Ben Calouro added four.
