The Barrington High School baseball team bounced back from a recent loss to defeat Mount St. Charles 16-5 on BHS Senior Day. 

The Eagles tallied 14 hits, led by Quinn Murphy who hit for the cycle, with a home run, triple, double and single. Murphy belted a two-run homer in the first and later added a single and a triple. In his final at-bat, Murphy pulled the ball to right-center and it bounced over the fence for a ground-rule double which enabled him to complete the cycle.

Gabe Tanous also belted a two-run homer for the Eagles (13-4) in addition to hitting a double. Ryan Machado and Matt Davis each were 2-for-3 and Eli Terrell and Grant Culton each hit triples.

The game was especially meaningful for Machado, a senior outfielder who usually comes off the bench but started in right field on Barrington’s Senior Day. 

Owen Pfeffer earned the victory by pitching two and a third innings of hitless, scoreless relief with seven strikeouts. Pfeffer, a sophomore left-hander, needed only 45 pitches to complete his stint. Harrison Cooley started the game and allowed five runs (only three were earned) on four hits.

The Eagles led 6-5 entering the last of the third when they sent 10 players to the plate while scoring eight runs.
