The Barrington High School girls cross country team ran past St. Raphael's Academy 20-42 and East Providence 15-50 in a multi-team meet in Barrington on Saturday.
Barrington placed eight girls in the top 10, led by Meghan Zitzmann, who finished second. Lindsay Turgeon was third, followed by Olivia Johnson in fourth, Reilly Curran in fifth, Audrey Faulkner in sixth, Virginia Sanderson in seventh, Anna Garafano in ninth and Jane Bryant in 10th.
Barrington had another five girls place in the top 20 — Cassidy Owens (12th), Helen Copple (13th), Alison Dumas (15th), Maddie Watson (16th), and Lillie Anne Brown (18th).
Barrington has only lost once during the regular season.
Girls soccer
The Eagles played to a 1-1 tie against Mt. Hope High School on Monday. (The game had been rescheduled from Friday because of wet weather.)
Gianna Colonna scored for the Eagles, while goalkeeper Alaina Wood made 10 saves in net. The Eagles' offense had 12 shots on net against the Huskies.
Barrington, which moved its record to 0-1-1, will play at home against Portsmouth on Friday at 6:45 p.m.
Girls tennis
The Barrington High School girls tennis team defeated East Greenwich 6-1 on Saturday.
Barrington's doubles team of Hailey Walter and Katie Byon battled back for a key win, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, while singles players Kate Robertson, Marie Chanfrau and Sonya Pareek each won their matches in straight sets.
"Very proud of the girls' attitude, effort and results!" said Barrington High School Coach Betsy Brenner.
Barrington High School is 2-2 in the division and will play against Moses Brown on Friday.
Boys cross country
Barrington went 2-1 in a multi-team meet on Saturday, losing to a strong St. Raphael's Academy team 19-37, and defeating East Providence and Tiverton, 15-50 each.
The loss to the Saints was Barrington's first in the regular season.
The Saints placed four runners in the top five spots. Barrington's Holden Vaughan finished second overall, six seconds behind St. Raphael's Darius Kipyego.
Barrington's Noah Buller finished seventh, followed by his teammates Brandon Piedade in eighth and Adam Copple in ninth. Charlie Stockwell, Jackson Montour, Finn Myatt, Elliot Lefort, Andrew Rego, Caleb Schultz, Robbie Davis and Ethan Baker all placed in the top 20.
Field hockey
The Barrington High School field hockey team improved to 1-2 after defeating North Kingstown 3-2 on Saturday, Oct. 17. It was the first loss of the season for the Skippers.
Barrington opened the game with three goal in the first half — Violet Gagliano scored twice, while Mila Diaz had a goal and an assist. Vivienne Mueller had 2 assists for the Eagles.
Barrington opened the season with close losses to Moses Brown and East Greenwich.
