The Barrington High School boys cross country team opened its season with a win at the Vineyard Invitational recently. Not to be outdone, the Barrington boys JV team won its meet also.

In the varsity race, Barrington senior Brandon Piedade finished first overall, while Myles Napolitano crossed the line fourth. Elliot Lefort finished 13th and Sam Bishop was two spots back at 15th. Michael Chun rounded out the top five for Barrington, crossing the line in 25th place overall.

“The boy's team had a very successful (and fun) day on the Vineyard! We won both the JV and Varsity races, and had individual winners in all three races,” wrote BHS Coach Mike Katz.

In the girls race, Barrington had three runners place in the top 32 spots. Mia He finished 22nd overall with a time of 21:54.42, while Sara Chang was 28th with a time of 22:23.82, and Maeve Kelly finished 32nd with a time of 22:44.67.

Girls soccer

The Barrington High School girls soccer team opened the regular season with a 1-1 tie against North Kingstown on Monday, Sept. 11. The game was played at N.K.

The Skippers opened the scoring with a goal 30 minutes into the first half. Barrington knotted the score two minutes into the second half when the Eagles’ Liv Morrissette found the back of the Skippers’ net. Barrington senior goalie Maddie Gill made a key save late in the game to preserve the 1-1 tie.

BHS Coach Martyn Hollands said the tie was a solid team effort for the Eagles.

“Great way for the girls to start their season,” he said.
