The Barrington High School field hockey team shut out North Kingstown and South Kingstown last week and improved to 6-1.
On Friday, Oct. 6, the Eagles knocked off the Skippers 4-0. Barrington’s offense played well throughout the game. Sarah Bourk scored twice for Barrington, while Emma Mueller and Norah Abbas also scored. Mueller, Lily Kirk and Ava Anderson each tallied assists in the shut-out win for the Eagles.
Barrington Coach Anne Gasbarro said Ava DiMatteo, Chloe Moscrop and Roxanna Mohammadi played very well for the Eagles in the Division I victory. North Kingstown fell to 4-5.
On Wednesday, Oct. 4, Barrington defeated South Kingstown 3-0. Mueller led the Eagles’ offense with two goals, while DiMatteo notched an assist. Primrose Anderson also scored and had an assist. Moscrop, Chelsea Duncan and Mohammadi played great defense for the Eagles.
The Eagles have not allowed a goal since Sept. 15. They are outscoring their opponents 35-2 this season.
Barrington was scheduled to play at Moses Brown in a key Division I showdown on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
JV wins three in a row
Coach Gasbarro said the Barrington High School JV field hockey team had a strong week, defeating LaSalle 5-0, South Kingstown 4-0, and North Kingstown 3-0.
Sadie Stern scored two goals, while Paige Davignon, Katie McAdams and Mackenzie Plourde scored single goals in the Eagles’ win over LaSalle. Sophia Scandura and Ellie Palmieri each had assists.
McAdams led the Eagles over the Rebels. She scored one goal and had one assist, and also played stellar defense from her midfield position. Palmeri, Davignon and Stern also scored for the Eagles.
Stern opened the scoring in the win over North Kingstown. Rijaa Fatima and Plourde also scored in the victory, while Scandura and McAdams tallied assists.
The JV team is 4-1 this season.
