The Barrington High School boys outdoor track team rolled to three wins in the season-opening meet on Monday, April 1.

The Eagles defeated Shea 142-12, Tiverton 146-8, and Tolman 153-1.

Eagles cruise to three victories in opener

The Barrington High School boys outdoor track team rolled to three wins in the season-opening meet on Monday, April 1.

The Eagles defeated Shea 142-12, Tiverton 146-8, and Tolman 153-1. 

Barrington swept the top-three spots in a number of events. In the 3,000-meter race, Sam Spencer, Sam Barber and Rowan Knight finished first, second and third, respectively. 

The Eagles won the 4x100-meter relay. The top BHS team was Iain DeBoth, Charly Potter, Alex McClelland and Ethan Knight. 

Ethan Knight, Jared Lesk and Bobby Wind swept the top three spots in the 300 hurdles, and Potter, DeBoth and Patrick Trainor went one, two, three in the 200-meter race. 

Wind, Ethan Knight and Lesk captured the top spots in the 110-meter hurdles, and Myles Napolitano, Brandon Piedade and Connor Curran finished atop the 1,500-meter race. 

Will DiGiacomo, Henry Stockwell and Ben Labreche finished first, second and third, respectively, in the 400-meter race, and Marius Bonard, Curran and Finn Stabach went one, two, three in the 800.

DiGiacomo, Ethan Knight, Bonard and Stockwell won the 4x400-meter race. 

Joe Adams, Marco Lopergolo and Graham Bennett brought home the top three spots in the hammer throw, and Charly Potter, Chucky Potter and James Leduc went one, two, three in the javelin. 

Chucky Potter, Ryan Martin and Cole Ornstedt led the way in the pole vault. Chucky Potter, Trainor and Aden Memoli finished top-three in the long jump.

Shea Parish, Caleb Satisfield and Chucky Potter finished first, second and third in the high jump, and Memoli, Grady Hazlett and Levon He finished at the top in the triple jump.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
