Barrington’s Assistant Superintendent will step down on Feb. 12. Paula Dillon shared a district-wide email last week announcing her upcoming departure.
“With a blend of emotions, I share the news of my acceptance of a new professional opportunity, marking the end of my tenure at Barrington Public Schools on February 12,” she wrote.
“Since joining BPS in 2012, I have witnessed the support, collaboration, and dedication that define Barrington. This community's commitment to the education and well-being of students has been truly inspiring. My decision to leave was not made lightly. I deeply appreciate my time here and will miss the unique spirit of this learning community.”
Dillon was hired by Barrington Public Schools in 2012 as the director for curriculum and instruction. She was later promoted to assistant superintendent. Her current title is Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning, Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development.
“The strength of any community lies in its dedication to a shared mission: to nurture communication, collaboration, creativity, citizenship, critical thinking, and character in our students so that they may excel and positively impact the future,” Dillon wrote in her announcement. “I am proud of the accomplishments of BPS students, educators, and staff toward this mission and hope that future leaders and committee members continue to support student engagement, well-being, and success.”
Barrington Schools recently began the search process for a new superintendent — earlier this year Superintendent Michael Messore announced he was retiring at the end of the school year.
The Barrington School Committee partnered with the firm Hazard, Young, Attea Associates to conduct the search for Barrington’s next superintendent.
It is expected that the district’s next superintendent will lead the search process for the next assistant superintendent.
Dillon initially announced in early January that she was resigning from Barrington Public Schools, effective July 1.
