The Barrington High School girls tennis team defeated East Greenwich, 4-1, in a Division I quarterfinal playoff match on Thursday, Oct. 26. 

Barrington’s number one singles player, Ava Koczera-Kasem, won her match, defeating East Greenwich’s Ellie Coker Dodham, 6-1, 6-2.

The Avengers’ Ariana Davoudi defeated Barrington’s Ava Grant at number two singles, 6-2, 6-3. 

Barrington’s number four singles player Charlotte Byon defeated East Greenwich’s Anna Deng, 6-3, 6-2.

At the number one doubles match, Barrington’s Zeynep Abul and Addy Friedman knocked off East Greenwich’s Savannah Hepel and Sophia Sperenza, 6-3, 6-1. 

The Eagles clinched the team playoff victory with a win at the second doubles match. Barrington’s Jillian Frechette and Anna Pani defeated East Greenwich’s Emily Kendell and Miranda Thakuria, 6-4, 6-0. 

The Eagles will square off against North Kingstown in a semifinals match. Barrington entered the playoffs as the number three seed, while North Kingstown is the number two seed.

In the other half of the bracket, top-seeded and undefeated LaSalle Academy will play against fourth-seeded Moses Brown. 

The winners of the semifinals matches will play for the Division I state championship on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Slater Park in Pawtucket.
