The Rhode Island Department of Education released its school accountability report last week, and the news was good for Barrington.
Five Barrington schools earned five-star ratings, accounting for more than 20 percent of the five-star rated schools from across the entire state — only 23 schools in Rhode Island earned a five-star rating. Barrington High School, Barrington Middle School, Hampden Meadows, Nayatt and Sowams each earned five-star ratings. Primrose Hill School was a four-star school.
Barrington High School was one of only two high schools in the state to earn five stars, and Barrington Middle School was one of only four middle schools in Rhode Island to earn five stars.
Five-star ratings were previously listed as commended schools. The ratings are based on academic performance, student success, and college and career readiness.
“We would like to congratulate our teachers, staff, and students for these impressive results,” said Barrington Superintendent of Schools Michael Messore. “It is through the hard work of our students, the expertise of our staff and educators, and the unwavering support of our Barrington community that we are able to consistently reach a high level of academic achievement and student success. Thank you for supporting our mission of empowering all students to excel!”
