Barrington resident reports suspicious condition at neighbor's home

House is vacant, but someone apparently removed AC unit from window

Barrington police received a call on Monday, Nov. 11 from a Hampden Meadows resident who was watching a neighbor's house while no one was there. The resident said she noticed an air conditioning window unit had been pushed into the house.

Officers stopped by and checked out the property — they found a rear door was unlocked and a hammer and screwdriver had been left on a chair near where the AC unit had been. The air conditioner itself was inside the home.

A relative of the homeowner responded to the location and said she had made sure the home had been locked up when she was last there. Police said nothing was reported missing from inside the home.
