A Warren man is facing numerous charges following an incident in Barrington on Sunday morning, Aug. 30.
At about 9:30 a.m., Barrington Police started receiving numerous calls for a man exposing himself. Callers told police that the man was on the East Bay Bike Path near the Barrington Shopping Center, and was last spotted walking on the path toward Warren.
Police responded to the area and searched for the suspect. Officers soon located a man matching the description on a section of bike path between New Meadow Road and Sowams Road.
Police later charged John Bowen, 57, of Warren, with four counts of indecent exposure-second offense, resisting legal or illegal arrest, simple assault and/or battery, and disorderly conduct. Police said Bowen appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol — he was allegedly slurring his speech.
Police said Bowen became aggressive when officers went to put him in handcuffs. Police said he was actively resisting arrest.
According to police, Bowen was actually out on bail from a previous indecent exposure charge out of Warren.
Barrington Police transported Bowen to the ACI.
