Barrington police charged Jared Hussey, 30, of Somerset, Mass., with DUI/drugs/alcohol-first offense on Sunday, Jan. 8 at about 1:13 a.m.
Police received a call about a single car accident on the Wampanoag Trail in the area of the East Providence line.
The vehicle, driven by Mr. Hussey, had been traveling south in the northbound lane when it was involved in the accident.
Police spoke to Mr. Hussey, who eventually admitted to having two drinks at a Seekonk restaurant. He said he hit a patch of snow while driving to a friend's house in Barrington.
He initially agreed to take a breathalyzer test, but police said he did not perform the test correctly. Police said Mr. Hussey displayed signs of being intoxicated and also failed field sobriety tests.
