Barrington Town Manager Phil Hervey signed a new executive order on Friday, Feb. 4 allowing public meetings to be held in-person, as long as there are ways for people to also access the meeting via the phone or online. The order also allows for meetings to be held remotely.
“This order provides public bodies in Barrington more flexibility,” Mr. Hervey said, “by giving them the discretion to meet remotely, or hold a ‘hybrid’ meeting.”
The town manager’s previous executive order required that all public meetings be held remotely with no in-person option.
Mr. Hervey also extended the order requiring people to wear masks in all municipal buildings in town, regardless of a person’s vaccination status.
“The use of N95, KN95 or 3-ply surgical masks is strongly recommended, rather than the less effective cloth coverings,” stated a press release from the manager.
