Junior Denali Sexton, of Barrington, had three goals and an assist to lead Colby-Sawyer men’s soccer team to a 4-2 victory over Pine Manor and become the program’s leader in career points with 101. 

Sexton earns national recognition.

Needing four points for the record, Sexton did not disappoint and finished the game with seven points to give him 101 and eclipse the previous mark of 99 points by Matt Solazzo ’04. Sexton now has 40 goals, second to only Solazzo’s 41, and 21 assists.

Colby-Sawyer improved to 4-4-1 overall.

Sexton set up the game’s first goal in the 17th minute when he found the foot of junior Jake Sykes, who finished home his third score of the season.

The second half was Sexton’s time to shine as he recorded a hat-trick helping the Chargers secure the 4-2 victory.

Sexton’s first goal came three minutes into the frame when a ball ricocheted off a defender right to him. He then gathered and blasted the ball past the diving Pine Manor keeper.

The record setting tally came at 64:33 when he dribbled the ball for several yards to create separation from the defenders and scored from a tough angle into the corner of the net.

Sexton capped the scoring in the waning moments with his team best 10th goal of the season off a feed from junior Zach Elmore.
