Barrington girls track team remains undefeated

The Barrington High School girls track team pushed its record to 7-0 following lopsided wins over Middletown (127-27), Rogers (132-22), Bay View (136-17) and St. Patrick’s (152-0) on Tuesday, April 9.

Barrington student-athletes finished in first place in nearly every event. Jordan Roskiewicz won the 300-meter race and tied for first in the 110-meter hurdles, while Sophia Ford won the long jump and the triple jump. 

Kate Pearse won the 100-meter race, Sara Chang won the 1,500-meter, Caroline Reznik won the 400-meter, Roxanna Mohammadi won the 200, Ellie Noonan won the pole vault, Maddie Gill won the javelin, Kitty Wang won the discus, and Lily Cregan won the hammer. 

The team of Roskiewicz, Isys Dunphy, Gill and Ford also won the 4x100-meter relay.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
