The Barrington High School girls lacrosse team opened the season on Monday with a 12-11 win over East Greenwich, a team they had lost to three times last year. 

The Eagles had seven different players contribute in the scoring column. Leading the way was senior captain Anna Lombardi who finished the game with four goals, two assists, six draw controls and seven caused turnovers. 

“She had an injury in the third quarter where the Avengers capitalized on her not on the field and evened out the scoring from a 8-5 lead to 8-8 going into the fourth and final quarter,” wrote BHS Coach Selina Dacey in an email to the Barrington Times. 

Senior Alex Hope also had a strong game for Barrington — she scored three goals, notched two assists and had one caused turnover. 

Freshman starter Lily O'Neil had one goal and two assists, while fellow freshmen Ashley DaCosta had one goal and one draw control, and Sophia Scandura had one assist.  

Senior captain Stella Hillier had one goal, two ground balls and one caused turnover running the midfield while junior Bailey Duncan had one goal and three caused turnovers. Junior Grace Comfort had one goal and one caused turnover to round out the scoring for Barrington.

Senior Captain Lily Kirk held down the defensive end with two ground balls, four caused turnovers and one assist. 

Sophomore goalie Katie McAdams ended the game with five saves.

Barrington is back on the road Thursday, April 4 at Portsmouth.
