The Eagles’ novice team had an especially strong showing — they won four of the top five team awards. The team of Joshua Shanty and Cassie Funaro also placed in the top-10.

A number of novice debaters were also recognized for their individual performances: Coutant finished first, Capron was third, Romano was eighth, Funaro was ninths and Vicioco was 13th.

The Barrington High School varsity debaters also performed well at the regular season finale. The team of Kendal Bazerman and Audrey Adams finished first, while Gaige Battersby was fifth, Kate Mellen and Chelsea Duncan finished seventh, and Amelia Taylor and Frannie Johnson finished eighth.

Katherine Young won first place for her individual performance, while Battersby was third, Taylor was sixth, Bazerman was seventh and Adams was ninth.

Next up for the Barrington High School debate team will be the state championship tournament on Saturday, March 2.
