Two Barrington residents are facing charges following a fight between members of a wedding party and Newport police officers on Sunday.
According to Newport Daily News, Barrington residents David and Rachel Onik were among the people charged after an incident at Bowen's Wharf. The sequence began after the Oniks and others were denied entry to The Landing restaurant and bar. David Onik reportedly became combative with staff at The Landing, who called police to the scene.
After officers responded, tempers flared and multiple people began fighting with the officers, one of whom was injured. In one of the videos, Rachel Onik can be seen grabbing at an officer's gun holster, before the officer spins and strikes her in the face, knocking her unconscious. Both Barrington residents were charged with multiple misdemeanors. Also charged were three other women, one of whom repeatedly kicked an officer, and a man, who attacked and struck an officer multiple times.
Multiple videos of the altercation have surfaced.
