The Barrington High School cross country teams sprinted to strong finishes at their respective Class B Championship races last weekend.
The Barrington boys team won the Class B title, while the Barrington girls finished second at their Class B Championship race. The championship races were held at Ponaganset High School on Saturday, Oct. 29.
The BHS boys finished with 31 points, well ahead of second place Ponaganset (80 points), and third place Chariho (86 points). The Barrington girls finished with 65 points, trailing first place East Greenwich (26 points) and ahead of third place South Kingstown (78 points).
BHS boys
Barrington junior Brandon Piedade led the way for his team. Piedade finished second overall, finishing with a time of 16:22.4, about six seconds behind the overall winner, Lincoln’s Nathan Evans.
Piedade was one of three Eagles to finish in the top six spots overall. Myles Napolitano was fourth overall with a time of 16:39.2, and Connor Curran was sixth with a time of 16:53.9. Napolitano and Curran are both sophomores.
Elliot Lefort, a junior at Barrington High School, finished 11th. He was followed closely by Christopher Clyne in 12th place, Finn Myatt in 14th, and Charlie Stockwell in 22nd.
BHS girls
Kyle Keough led the Barrington High School girls team. The senior runner was sixth overall with a time of 20:14.6.
BHS sophomore Caroline Reznik finished 11th overall with a time of 21:03.1, and Barrington freshman Maeve Kelly was 15th overall, finishing the course with a time of 21:21.5.
Sara Chang was 18th overall, Jane Bryant was 20th, Virginia Sanderson was 25th, and Indie Lamb was 26th.
