Barrington athletes compete in track championship

Three Eagles win individual events

A handful of Barrington athletes competed in the recent RITCA Outdoor Track Championship, and three of them won individual events.

Will Cauley won the boys hammer throw event, with a distance of 205 feet, 11 inches; Will Sanchez won the boys triple jump, with a distance of 42 feet, 9.5 inches; and Stephanie Chun won the girls 3,000-meter race, with a time of 11:05.10.

The meet was organized by Bob Palazzo, president of the Rhode Island Track Coaches Association (RITCA), and Keith Lawton, president of the Rhode Island Track & Field Officials Guild (RITFOG), and followed a series of strict protocols.

Following are the results for the Barrington athletes:

Boys hammer throw

1. Will Cauley, 205 feet, 11 inches

8. Asher Robbins, 156 feet, 11 inches

Girls hammer throw

2. Madison McGloin, 153 feet, 4 inches

9. Meghan Coyne, 119 feet, 10 inches

Girls discus throw

3. McGloin, 90 feet, 7 inches

Girls shot put

5. McGloin, 30 feet, 8.5 inches

Boys 110-meter hurdles

2. Jackson Duffy, 16.86

Boys long jump

4. Will Sanchez, 19 feet, 3.5 inches

Boys triple jump

1. Sanchez, 42 feet, 9.5 inches

Girls 3,000-meter run

1. Stephanie Chun, 11:05.10
