Westport police: Many animal complaints, no arrests

Monday, April 1

Animal complaints came in from American Legion Highway, at Tickle Road, at 8:21 a.m., and from Sanford Road at 1:10 p.m.

Police served a restraining order on Jason Drive at  6:32 p.m.

Police responded to a disturbance on Gifford Road called in via 911 at 7:42 p.m.

Police pulled over no vehicles and issued no citations over the course of the day.

Tuesday, April 2

A 911 caller reported an accident with injuries on Main Road at 7:07 a.m.

A Hix Bridge Road resident reported larceny, forgery or fraud at 9:38 a.m.

Animal complaints came in from American Legion Highway at Lighthouse Lane just before 11 a.m.

Police tried but were unable to serve a summons on Ivy Meadows Lane at 6:11 p.m. They were successful in a second attempt at 9:27 p.m.

A Drift Road resident reported identity fraud at 7:46 p.m.

Animal complaints came in from State Road at 11:31 p.m.

Police pulled over one vehicle but issued no citations over the course of the day.

Wednesday, April 3

Animal complaints came in from Drift Road at 7:01 a.m.

An identity fraud complaint was filed by a Laurel Lane resident at 10:08 a.m.

Tiffany Bailey, 28, of 95 Wilson St., New Bedford, was arrested on an undisclosed warrant after a 911 caller asked police for a well being check on Main Road at 1:10 p.m.

Police pulled over 12 vehicles and issued 12 citations over the course of the day.

Thursday, April 4

A caller from Village Way reported breaking and entering at 2:28 a.m. Police deemed the call unfounded.

A Blossom Road resident complained of harassment at 9:36 a.m.

A Jennings Way resident complained of larceny, forgery or fraud at 10:51 a.m.

A caller reported a suspicious car on River Road at 11:13 p.m.

Police pulled over 15 vehicles and issued 13 citations over the course of the day.

Friday, April 5

A caller reported a suspicious car on Main Road at 3:30 p.m. Police had the vehicle towed.

A caller on Drift Road reported suspicious activity just after 9 p.m.

Police pulled over 20 vehicles and issued 14 citations over the course of the day.

Saturday, April 6

A caller reported a suspicious car on Old Bedford Road at 10:47 a.m.

A caller from Hix Bridge Road reported a stolen vehicle at 2:11 p.m.

A caller from Village Way reported a disturbance at 11:23 p.m., but police deemed it unfounded.

A caller from Old Bedford Road reported an unwanted person at 11:34 p.m., but police deemed it unfounded.

Police pulled over four vehicles over the course of the day, but issued no citations.

Sunday, April 7

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on American Legion Highway at 10:27 a.m.

Animal complaints came in from Cherry and Webb Lane at 11:06 a.m.

A caller reported a suspicious person on Old Bedford Road at 11:23 a.m. A similar call came in from Donna Street 39 minutes later.

A 911 caller reported suspicious activity at Old County Road and Kaiser Drive at 6:19 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a vehicle repossession on Hix Bridge Road at 11:42 p.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
