Westport police logs: Animal complaints, no arrests

Monday, April 15

A 911 caller from John Reed Road lodged an animal complaint at 3:10 p.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on State Road at 4:13 p.m.

Police pulled over seven vehicles and issued three citations over the course of the day.

Tuesday, April 16

Animal complaints came in from American Legion Highway at 3:53 p.m.

A caller from McKinley Street reported a disturbance at 5:30 p.m.

Police pulled over one car over the course of the day, issuing no citations.

Wednesday, April 17

A caller in the vicinity of Route 88 called police at 5:24 a.m. with an animal complaint. A similar call came from Lawrence Avenue at 12:40 p.m.

A Buffington Street resident reported the theft of a vehicle just after 8 a.m.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Forsythia Lane at 2:49 p.m.

Police were informed of a vehicle repossession on Adamsville Road at 3:43 p.m.

Police pulled over 13 vehicles and issued 10 citations over the course of the day.

Thursday, April 18

Police pulled over two vehicles, issuing one citation over the course of the day.

Friday, April 19

A caller from Hix Bridge Road reported a suspicious person just before noon.

A 911 caller reported a suspicious car on American Legion Highway at 2:54 p.m., but police deemed the call unfounded. A similar call that came in from Horseneck Road at 3:08 p.m. was referred the state.

Police pulled over four vehicles but issued no citations over the course of the day.

Saturday, April 20

A caller at Charlotte White Road and Kelsey’s Way reported suspicious activity at 5:52 p.m., but police deemed the call unfounded.

A 911 caller reported a disturbance on Conserve Avenue at 6:50 p.m.

A caller reported suspicious activity on John Reed Road at 8:31 p.m., but police deemed it unfounded.

Police pulled over five vehicles and issued one citation over the course of the day.

Sunday, April 21

Animal complaints came in from West Beach Road at 3:47 p.m., and from Sanford Road at 8:19 p.m.

A caller from American Legion Highway reported a suspicious vehicle at 8:03 p.m.

Police pulled over 11 vehicles and issued seven citiations over the course of the day.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
