The select board is moving ahead with plans to replace Police Chief Keith Pelletier, who recently announced his retirement after having served 21 years in the position.

The board voted this week to appoint a preliminary screening committee for candidates. Committee members include Selectman Manuel Soares, Finance Committee Representative Al Lees, Personnel Board Chair Cindy Brown and Town Administrator Jim Hartnett. Chief Pelletier will serve on the committee as a non-voting member.

The position will initially be posted in-house, with an application deadline of October 13, 2024.
