The Warren Arts and Cultural Commission (WACC) is inviting the public to visit the recently completed Warren Waterfront Mural Project during the Warren Walkabout on Sunday, Oct. 22.

The new mural, located on a shipping container, was painted by Warren artist Deborah Baronas. The site is at the Warren Town Wharf on Water Street.

Baronas will be at the mural site from 1 to 3 p.m. and will talk about the techniques and processes she used to create the site-specific mural, including her search for archival images depicting Warren’s cultural and industrial heritage, including the maritime and textile activities that took place along its waterfront.

As a special feature of the event, she plans to sign the mural and WACC representatives will be providing materials so that visitors can try their hand at creating their own stencil art, a technique represented in the mural.

WACC put out a public call for art for the Warren Waterfront Mural last fall and selected Baronas for the project. She began work on the project in early summer and put the final touches on the mural earlier this month.
WACC’s mission is to cultivate and support Warren’s diverse artistic, cultural and historical as- sets, to expand opportunities for public-facing art that reflects the Town’s unique environment and cultural heritage, and to provide access to the arts by the wider community.
