The Barrington cross country teams competed in the state championship meet last weekend — the girls team finished eighth, while the boys were 10th.
The Eagles girls team had 205 points, finishing two points behind Portsmouth and 10 off sixth-place Cumberland. LaSalle won the meet with 49 points.
The Barrington girls were led by senior runner Meghan Zitzmann, who finished 30th overall with a time of 20:19.15. Meghan's classmate Lindsay Turgeon finished 35th with a time of 20:31.51.
Other Barrington finishers included sophomore Riley Curran (53rd, 21:21.09); junior Audrey Falkner (57th, 21:29.05); sophomore Olivia Johnson (58th, 21:33.22); sophomore Virginia Sanderson (80th, 22:07.53); and senior Maria Gunness (83rd, 22:15.85).
The Barrington High School boys team finished with 284 points, while perennial powerhouse LaSalle Academy won the meet with 24 points. LaSalle had five runners finish in the top 10.
The Eagles Holden Vaughan was one of the few non-LaSalle runners to finish in the top 10 — the Barrington High School junior finished eighth with a time of 16:10.66.
Barrington freshman Brandon Piedade was 57th overall with a time of 17:44.65, and junior Noah Buller was 71st with a time of 18.04.32.
Other Barrington finishers included sophomore Charlie Stockwell (95th, 18:50.39); senior Jordan Freij (97th, 18:53.31); Adam Copple (109th, 19:18.59); and Caleb Schultz (110th, 19:19.96).
