Winter Festival brings 10 days of concerts, shows, parties, kids fun and more

After a two-year hiatus due to Covid, the Newport Winter Festival is back! Enjoy 10 days of live music, foodie contests, kid-centric activities and more on scenic Aquidneck Island from Feb. 17 through 26.

Touted as "New England's largest winter extravaganza," Newport Winter Festival offers more than 150 events for the whole family. Spice things up with the renowned chili cook-off, horseback ride on the beach, or bundle up and head over to Polar Pineapples at Newport Harbor Island Resort for an ice bar. Take part in a vast array of fun-filled activities, all set to the beautiful background of Narragansett Bay!

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
