Since the roads on Poppasquash are closed to the public, and are considered private property by those who live there, why is it that the Poppasquash property owners are omitted from this list of possible payors?

I would like to be able to drive my car or my bicycle to the end of Poppasquash point on a sunny day. The day that I'm able to do that is the day that they can take my money -- either via taxes or my water bill -- to pay for these pipes. Until then, my dear Poppasquashians, if you want private roads, you've got private payments to make.

Leave the rest of our pocketbooks alone.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986.
