Newbery Honor-winner Grace Lin (“Where the Mountain Meets the Moon,” “Starry River of the Sky”) will be among the authors at this fourth annual event hosted by Barrington Books. The festival will feature an all-star lineup of award-winning children’s book authors that also includes Mary Jane Begin, Peter Mandel, Eileen Rosenthal, Patty Bowman and co-authors Carol Liu and Marybeth Caldarone. There will be readings at noon, followed by a question-and-answer session and a group book signing.

AcquAria (Vincenzo Castellana and Michela Musolino) will present “Sempri amMari, Traditional Sicilian Songs of the Sea.” Ms. Musolino, a vocalist known for her performances of Sicilian roots music, and Mr. Castellana, a noted percussionist of the Sicilian drumming tradition, have created a work of song, percussion and recitations which illustrates the intimate connection between Sicily, her history and the surrounding sea.

Outside Marketplace, Chainsaw Carving, and More at Warren’s annual “Walkabout” @ Farmstead Mercantile
Local vendors and artists will be selling at an outside marketplace at new retail shop Farmstead Mercantile. Local artist Richard Kaiser will be doing a chainsaw sculpture on the front lawn. The outside marketplace will feature original and limited edition art, vintage wares, antiques, and more.
The Warren Walkabout is a town wide event that features artist open studios, shopping, the Taste of Warren, and more. Located on the event’s trolley route, Farmstead offers ample parking thanks to neighboring businesses Rissco Fabrication, New England Kitchen and Bath Center, and Zangari Eyecare.

The Parenting Support Group will meet Sunday, October 21 at 6 PM in the Tildsley Building, St. Michael’s Church, 399 Hope Street, Bristol. This is an opportunity for parents of school age children to discuss the everyday challenges they encounter in raising children today including helping children make responsible decisions, building confidence, oppositional behavior, making friends and other topics of concerns that parents bring. The group is facilitated by a trained mental health professional with experience in child and family issues, and is conducted in a safe, confidential forum. The group meets on the third Sunday of the month and is open to all parents, single and partnered, traditional and non-traditional, and parents in blended family situations. There is no charge but participants are invited to bring a non-perishable food item for the Bristol Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen or a paper good for the East Bay Food Pantry.
