Old Colony & Newport Railway offers one of its limited excursions to the scenic north end of Aquidneck Island. The trains will use the train’s heritage passenger cars, typical of railroad cars that operated on Aquidneck Island at the turn of the 20th century. Uniformed conductors will describe sights along the way and share with riders some history of the area and of the railroad. Roadwork will block Burma Road south of the boarding area for much of the summer, so riders are advised to take Greene Lane west from West Main Road as an alternative to Burma Road.

Veterans Day Ceremony at Roger Williams University @ Roger Williams University
Roger Williams University Reserve Officer Training Corps Cadets are extending an invitation to the community to attend this year’s Veterans Day Ceremony.
On November 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in front of the University Flagpole (Administration Building) we will be honoring those who have fought in past wars and those who are presently serving in the military. This year we will be specifically honoring Women in the Military.
This year’s honorable speaker will be Chief Master Sergeant Ashness. She was the first female selected as First Sergeant for the 143rd AW Support Group establishing new programs and regulations to positively impact the men and women of the 143rd Airlift Wing. With a deployment and multiple honorable positions in the military, we are grateful to have Chief Master Sergeant speak on behalf of women in the military.
The ceremony will continue, as tradition, to lay a wreath in memory of those who have or are serving in the military. Guests will be given the option to lay a carnation at the base of the wreath to show their respects as well. (Carnations will be provided).
We look forward to spending this exceptionally honorable day with you and your friends.
