The Warren Veterans Honor Roll Committee is looking for veterans who served during wartime whose names are not currently on the Honor Roll on the Warren Town Common.

Committee members are particularly interested in hearing from veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and whose names are not listed on the Honor Roll’s tablets. Without word from the veteran or a loved one or friend, the names of veterans of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom are difficult to obtain because of Pentagon privacy rules, committee secretary Judith Fardig said.

“We plan on sending additional names to our forge this winter for unveiling in the spring,” Mrs. Fardig said. “Although the committee hasn’t yet voted on a specific date, we have discussed Memorial Day as an appropriate time.”

Committee members would like to learn of any additional names by Oct. 15. A copy of the veteran’s DD-214 discharge papers will be needed. Those papers must show the veteran entered service from the Town of Warren. For earlier wars, the committee can trace enlistment records once given a name.
