Speakman: It's time to tackle Warren's infrastructure issues

Posted

My fellow candidates and I have been walking through the neighborhoods of Warren talking with folks at their doors. It is heartening to hear that most residents appreciate the quality of life in town and are happy to live in Warren. But in every part of town, one issue keeps coming up: infrastructure. Whether it’s the sidewalks along Main Street south of downtown, or drainage issues on Warren Boulevard or Denver Avenue, or streets in need of repaving in virtually every neighborhood, it’s clear there’s work to be done. It’s time we conduct a comprehensive review of infrastructure needs, develop a plan to address them, and make a concerted effort to identify federal and state resources to help us make progress in all parts of town. The longer we wait, the higher the eventual price tag becomes.

And, the people of Warren must be engaged and informed at every step of the way.
