Sonja R. Silva, age 71, of East Providence, formerly of Warren, died Jan. 27, 2017, at home. She was formerly married to Ron Silva of Arizona. Born in Torrance, CA, she was a daughter of the late George Westerman and Alta Olivia (Bates) Clem.

Sonja was a Registered Nurse and worked at the Hattie Ide Chaffee Nursing Home.

She is survived by her children: Cheryl Bayuk (Julian "Jeff") of Barrington, Ronald Silva (Amy) of Boiling Springs, NC, Katherine Saleeba (Jim) of Rehoboth and Steven Silva of Warren; nine grandchildren: Zachary, Chuck, Chloe, Lauren, Randall, Mason, Mitchell, Connor and Hannah; and one great-granddaughter, Yanna. She was the sister of Raymond "Butch" Westerman of California, Dena Hughes of Texas and the late Sheila Westerman.

She leaves her faithful dog, Jesse.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend A Celebration of Life on Thursday evening, Feb. 2, 2017 at 7pm at the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the memorial service. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to RI SPCA, 186 Amaral St., Riverside, RI 02915.
