Letter: We should be proud of the BHS football team

To the editor:

Congratulations to the Barrington High School football team for their Division II Super Bowl trophy, to Brigham Dunphy for winning the MVP award, and for the cheerleaders who have made their own mark in regional competitions while supporting this team on the sidelines.

Coach Gorham, the players and their parents alike should be proud of this team’s efforts. Not only were these players victorious, they also demonstrated good sportsmanship by graciously kneeling out the clock in the final minutes out of respect for their opponent. In the heat of the moment it would have been easy to run up the score, but this act showed maturity, composure, and empathy — a positive reflection on themselves, their coach, the school and the community.

Well done, Barrington Eagles!
