Anthony Stravato unfortunately will become a popular name around Rhode Island these upcoming days. His actions have been frightening. 

However, I shouldn’t feel anxious about being a proud pet owner in Rhode Island. We can all learn from this community conflict. We should have improved safety precautions for our beloved pets. But importantly, “don’t feed the beast.” 

Pet owners shouldn’t be anxious to step outside for walks with their pets. The public shouldn’t become overwhelmed by his acts of domestic animal terrorism. The summer is almost over and we must enjoy it, especially with our pets. 

Criminals like Stravato want the public to live in fear, because for some sick reason, that gives him a mental edge. “Do you think it’s wrong that I kill animals?,” he asked on Facebook. 

We must continue to inform others and watch out for our neighbors’ pets. If we suspect that more acts like this are being committed, we must contact our local law enforcement agencies.

This could have happened anywhere in Rhode Island. Residents shouldn’t live in fear from this cat-killing criminal. We should watch out for our neighbor’s pets and communicate with local law-enforcement agencies if problems are suspected to avoid another pet murderer in our neighborhoods. Also, remember to hug your pet(s) today.
