It’s only been running a week, but it’s been a busy season for the Warren Recreation Department’s summer program at Burr’s Hill.

“We had more than 150 kids out,” said Kelly Servant, who helps run the program. There’s still time to register, she added.

The program runs daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., through August 19. Apart from special events like field trips, there are dozens of activities to keep kids occupied at Burr’s Hill.

“They’ve got games, they’re playing basketball and baseball, and we do arts and crafts,” Ms. Servant said. “They’ve got everything from Can Jam to football going on. We’re really just trying to keep them busy.

On Tuesday, the park’s weekly bowling day began, she noted. It runs Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Dudek’s. Upcoming field trips include the United Skates of America in Rumford (July 13), a Bristol vs. Warren field day at Colt State Park in Bristol (July 15) and a trip to Battleship Cove in Fall River (July 20). Others are scheduled throughout the season.

The program costs $150 for the first child, and $75 for each additional. Ms. Servant said parents who want to register their kids can just bring them down to the park.

“There’s still time,” she said. “We’ve had a lot of people sign up already (but) there’s always room for more.”
