Arlene E. (Tavares) Peters, 80, of Bristol, died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 6, 2018.
She was the loving wife of the late Robert J. Peters.
Born in Warren, she was the daughter of Albert H. and Mary (Barboza) Tavares.
She was a secretary for Raytheon and American Tourister for many years before her retirement.
She was a graduate of Warren High School, Class of 1955, and Katharine Gibbs School. A Bristol resident for over 50 years, she was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Mrs. Peters was a member of the garden club, and she enjoyed swimming, knitting, needlepoint, painting and stenciling. She was also an avid reader.
She is survived by her son, Scott Peters and his wife Lauren of North Kingstown, her daughter, Kimberly Peters of Providence, and her brother, Albert Tavares and his wife Catherine of Warren. Arlene was the doting grandmother of Matthew and William Peters, and the aunt of Lori Andreozzi and Audrey Scott.
She was also the mother of the late Craig Peters.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, May 12, at 8 a.m. from the SMITH FUNERAL and MEMORIAL SERVICES, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Ave., Warren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
