TIVERTON — Alex Muzzioli, a first-year Midshipman (Plebe) at the US Naval Academy, was a leader in the Navy varsity rifle team’s pair of victories at the 18th annual Palmyra Invitational.
Shooting in the smallbore rifle event, he tied for a team-high score of 578. That score was a career high for him and first time he has topped 575.
“There was some really, really fine shooting from our athletes today,” said head coach Bill Kelley. “… Our smallbore was real solid and led the way.”
The son of Keith and Staci , Muzzioli is an avid outdoorsman who shot at the Newport Rifle Club. He was a member of the National and Rhode Island Honor Society.
