Tiverton Police: Multiple domestic assaults; 6-year-old hitchhikers

Monday, July 13

Police were called to Canonicus Street at 9:12 am for a complaint of a woman screaming into an intercom system. Officer reported that the woman is singing karaoke — she was advised to lower the volume.

An officer responded to a call about a woman screaming inside her apartment at Bourne Mill at 9:13 am.

A Fish Road resident called to report on-line bullying at 12:49 pm.

Police and rescue went to Grinnell's Beach at 3:11 pm in response to a 911 call about an unresponsive man in the water. The man had been in the water for two or three minutes; a lifeguard was performing CPR. The man later passed away (see separate story).

Portsmouth responded to a report about a boat without power drifting beneath the Sakonnet River Bridge at 3:19 pm.

Police were called to Bourne Mill Apartments at 4:38 pm for a coyote complaint.

A large limb fell and entirely blocked Crandall Road at Narrow Avenue at 4:50 pm.

Tuesday, July 14

Nareida Lopes, 26, of 1 Mill St., Tiverton, was arrested on charges of domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct at 12:46 am at the Bourne Mill Apartments.

A driver at a north end business reported that another driver backed into her car and then took off into Fall River at 7:57 pm.

A large group of juveniles consuming alcohol were reported to be gathered at the Fish Road park and ride lot. Police checked — found no alcohol but dispersed the juveniles.

Wednesday, July 15

Keith A. Gillette, 47, of Fall River, was arrested on a warrant and also on a charge of domestic disorderly conduct at a Persimmon Drive location.

A Highland Road resident called regarding a trespassing neighbor.

A Glendale Street resident called at 5:34 pm to report that someone may be in the basement (caller locked herself in a room with child and dog). Police checked the basement and found nothing — may have been a solicitor who rang the doorbell and left.

At 7:22 pm, a Neck Road resident said a hunter is on his property without permission. The hunter said he shot a deer on another property and it ran onto complainant's property

Thursday, July 16

Kristin E. Ripa, 44, of 249 Judson St., Tiverton, was arrested on charges of domestic simple assault and domestic vandalism at that address.

Tara N. Bigelow, 35, of 19 Main Road, Tiverton, was arrested on charges of domestic simple assault, second offense, and domestic disorderly conduct, second offense, at that address.

Police were called to Crandall Road at 12:49 am for a loud dispute — two men screaming and banging on doors.

A caller reported at 9:30 am that an East Don Avenue property is unkempt and a traffic hazard. An officer checked — property is unkempt but not a traffic hazard.

A Main Road shop owner called at 11:10 am to report that a customer threatened to damage the store.

A skunk was reported to be stuck in a manhole cover on Jacqueline Way. DPW freed the skunk.

Police assisted with a casino with two casino “exclusions” at 3:45 pm and 4:03 pm.

UHaul asked for police help as they retrieved a rental vehicle that had been rented last week in Fall River and not returned.

At 6:03 pm. Police went to Highland Road for a report of two young boys, ages 6 or 7, hitchhiking. An officer spoke to the boys.

At 7:34 pm, a woman reported that she was running in the Seapowet Road area when several men in a blue sedan started following her; she said one of the men got out and chased her. The vehicle had left when police arrived.

Friday, July 17

A Budd Way reported a case of identity theft at 3:46 pm.

Saturday, July 18

At 12:13, motorists reported a vehicle traveling at over 100 mph on Route 24 North.

Alyssa Marie Bruno, 27, of 328 Lake Road, Tiverton, was arrested on two counts of possession of a controlled substance (drug) at 2 am at the Tiverton Casino.

Marc Brum, 39, of Rehoboth, Mass., was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance (drug) at 10:05 pm at the Dadson Moble Home Park. Bulgarmarsh Road.

A large group of people, no social distancing, were reported on Pocasset Avenue at 10:20 am. Police checked and reported finding family members sitting together on a bench.

At 11:23 am, a caller reported a festival in the area of Lawrence Court. An officer responded and found “a small get-together.”

Police an rescue responded to a two-car accident in the area of 861 Main Road. There were no injuries.

The Tivetron Casino requested that a patron be issued a no-trespass order at 2:41 pm.

A Bourne Mill resident flagged an officer down at 6:24 pm to report a possibly intoxicated man stumbling in the roadway with his pants around his knees.

Excessively loud noise was reported at a Highland road location at 8:16 pm.

A Tiverton officer responded to a to an 8:25 pm Portsmouth Police call about a motorcycle northbound on Route 24 at a high rate of speed. The officer tried to stop the motorcycle but it disappeared into Fall River.

King Road residents reported fireworks being set off at 9:37 pm.

A large gathering of underage drinkers were reported in the area of Lepes Road at 10:19 pm.

Sunday, July 19

Police went to Seapowet Beach at 1:29 pm for a report of a small campfire. The campfire was extinguished and cleaned up.

Police assisted with the ejection of two patrons from the Tiverton Casino Hotel at 2:08 am.

A 9:57 am social distancing check at the Crandall Road Sip and Dip revealed a “large crowd” but no issues.

Vehicles dumping trash were reported on Hooper Street at 2:31 pm. One person was cited.

A Windwood Drive resident reported that people were dumping trash in her dumpster and that they threatened her when confronted. An officer termed it a “misunderstanding.”

Monday, July 20

Steven L. Segura Gibson, 31, of Wilton Manors, Florida, was arrested on a charge of domestic simple assault at 5:34 am at a Seapowet Avenue location.

Ryan Rigdon, 37, of 940 Seapowet Ave., Tiverton, was arrested on a charge of domestic simple assault at 5:34 am at that address.

A dirt bike complaint was reported in the area of Longplex, Industrial Way.
