The Tiverton-Little Compton minor all-stars crushed Barrington 11-1 to take the District 2 title on Wednesday, July 12, making it four District 2 titles this season for the Tiverton Little League softball program.
“It was a banner all-star season,” said league president Mike DeCotis. “We suspect that it was the first time in Tiverton Little League softball history that we have won four district championships in all four divisions.”
The minor all-stars joined the majors, seniors and juniors, in winning their respective District 2 championships this season.
“There is more work to be done,” said DeCotis. “Our junior all-stars softball team will play in the regionals and our minor all-stars will play in the state tournament.”

Senior girls fall to Warwick North in states
The Tiverton senior all-stars softball team lost in two games to state champion Warwick North, who will advance to the regional round in Worcester.
“The Tiverton senior girls won the District 2 championship for the first time in years and are a young team with all but two of their 13 players due back next season,” said DeCotis.
Major girls fall to Cranston Western in state final
The Tiverton major all-stars softball team beat South Kingstown 15-8 in their first game, fell to Cranston Western 5-3 in their second game, beat South Kingstown 9-5 in their third game and lost to Cranston 9-1 in the championship of the 12U state tournament in Warwick last week.
Cranston advances to the regional round in Bristol, CT, which will be televised on ESPN+. The Tiverton majors have won the District 2 title two years in a row under coach Mike Martin and will return three players next season.
Juniors win states, move on to regionals
The Tiverton junior all-stars won the state championship and will play in the regional tournament in Orange, CT starting July 20. The juniors will take part in pool play for the first four days of the tournament, before starting the elimination bracket on July 24, for the right to represent New England in the World Series in Kirkland, WA, on July 30.
