Little Compton Police: Bad behavior on the beach

Monday, July 20

Police and firefighters were called to Ocean Drive for a 6:52 am 911 hangup call that proved to be accidental.

At 1:43 pm, a cell phone found on Shaw Road was dropped off at the station. The owner later came in to retrieve it.

Tuesday, July 21

At 9:09 am, a Goodrich Lane resident reported vandalism to a vehicle with a black marker.

At 3:22 pm, police and rescue responded to a report of a bicyclist hit by a vehicle on Mullin Hill Road. The bicyclist was uninjured but the vehicle left the scene— Tiverton and Westport police were notified. Ten minutes later, the vehicle returned to the scene.

Police were called to South Shore Beach at 5:51 pm for reports of a man taking candid pictures of teenage girls on the beach. The man was issued a no trespass order for South Shore Beach.

Wednesday, July 22

Police were notified at 7:24 am that a man had become verbally abusive when he was asked to walk his dog away from a bird nesting area at South Shore Beach.

Thursday, July 23

Suspicious activity was reported in the area of Brownell Road at 2:58 pm.

Friday, July 24

At 7:30 pm, a 911 caller reported that her friend had texted her from the entrance to Simmons Mill Pond off Colebrook Road that her boyfriend was going to kill her. Police were able to locate both the man and woman (Tiverton Police were also called) — “verbal argument.”

Saturday, July 25

Rescue and police were called at 11:34 am to assist an injured person on Amesbury Lane.

At 11:39 am on West Main Road, a Fall River man was cited for driving with a suspended license, first offense.

Credit cards found in a box at a vegetable stand on Willow Lane were turned in to the station at 12:01 pm. The owner came in to retrieve them.

At 4:59 pm, police responded to South Shore Beach for a report of a disorderly young man, possibly intoxicated. Beach personnel said the man ran down the beach into Westport. Minutes later, a woman called from Brayton Point Road to say that a man, dressed all in black, had run through her yard. Westport Police located the man.
